We are getting ready for our first of three Youth Art in Windows events. It springs up in Grandmont Rosedale business windows in late May and June. It will feature spring into summer art work including this fresh one painted by Mint summer workers Jordan and Charles a couple years ago. ( This was live painted at a summertime favorite: the Belle Isle Art Fair. )

Our first coloring card honors our first person to love. It celebrates Mom, for Mother's Day or mommy's birthday. It is based on a painting by Mint summer worker Lakiya Ealy and has a butterfly and flower to color on the back too. Available now in the Mint Shop online - and because we love Detroiters, we are donating digital versions to teachers and students in Detroit.

We celebrate the women of Mint Artists Guild and the women who inspire them this month. Pictured is author, poet, writer, entrepreneur, leader of Timepieces Personal Biographies, and Mint supporter Stephanie Kadel Taras. She is greatly inspired by @Gwen Frostic, stating "When I think about the life I’m trying to build for myself, I often think of Gwen Frostic, a northern Michigan block print artist and author who combined an entrepreneurial sensibility with her love of nature to build a successful business. She lived where she worked, surrounded by woods and water. She created jobs for others as she developed a worldwide audience for her beautiful cards and stationery. She was also active in her community. Frostic managed lifelong physical disabilities after a childhood illness, and she kept working into her 90s, living a simple life. She left millions to her alma mater, @Western Michigan University when she died in 2001. ... I’m inspired by Gwen Frostic’s life and work and spirit." @gwenfrostic
