Handmade Future is a documentary that follows artisans and artists in six countries as they confront complex middlemen and fight against fast, cheap factory-made merchandise. They hope to use their creativity and culture to keep traditional art-making alive. The film considers how they could help move us toward a more humane and sustainable future.
The Detroit Month of Design event is organized by Love Travels Imports.
Ticket purchases benefit Mint Artists Guild, The Red and the Senate Theater. Â VIP tickets include a light reception, a Q&A with filmmaker Kirsten Dickerson, a rare behind the scenes tour of this historic 1926 neighborhood movie house and the chance to purchase items from the artisans in the film.
