Want to Mint Artists Guild this fall and hang out with some creative types in their teens? Attend workshops, be part of pop ups and special art events – where you sell your art. We call this the ‘learn and earn program.’
Most artists who are accepted and are active will be invited to the Palmer Park Art Fair, a fine juried fair in May. Artists ages 13 to 18 must be available for weekend workshops and have a body of work they want to sell.
Apply by Thursday by uploading images of your art and telling us about you!
Mint Artists Guild members stuck it out by being all bundled up during the Palmer Park Art Fair. Yes, we saw the snowflakes. Our next event is sure to be warmer: It’s June 5 at Shed 5 Sundays at Eastern Market.
If you want to see the creative future of Detroit, and support creative artists ages 13 to 19, come to the Palmer Park Art Fair on Saturday and Sunday.
Mint will have two tents this year – 15 artists, up from 11 last year. And one of our 2015 alumni, Ackeem Salmon, is in his first solo art fair in a tent nearby.
The photo above of Eleanor Olson painting was taken by Mint photographer Omari June Norman. Below is jewelry by Trinity Brown and artist Maisha Rahman at last year’s Palmer Park fair.
They create jewelry, crocheted penguins, photographs, paintings, multi media and more. Their work will be great graduation gifts, birthday presents or gifts for teachers, fathers or yourself. Details are found on the Palmer Park ART Fair website. Delectable art is found in the two Mint tents half way up to the Palmer Park Log Cabin.
Watch it to meet three of our teens and hear a sliver of our story. Then if you feel moved, please donate to our campaign and help Paint Detroit with Generosity! Or if you want to meet 15 emerging artists, join us on Saturday or Sunday at the Palmer Park ART Fair.
